Riverlore Newsletter May 2009

Welcome to Riverlore's inaugural newsletter.

2008 was a busy year for Riverlore Gallery.
Joanna released a new body of work into the gallery in early August. 150 guests celebrated the opening and sampled fine wines sponsored by Staete Landt. The traditional gifting of a limited edition Fine Art print this year went to Vivienne Peters. The exhibition can currently be viewed on the website or onsite at Riverlore.

The gallery has broadened its shoulders this year and has just completed hosting the exhibition for the graduation students from the Nelson Marlborough Polytechnic. The gallery welcomed 195 visitors on opening night with strong support from family, friends and local art enthusiasts, which culminated in a successful night for the students.

Riverlore also hosted its 2nd Annual Cancer Society cocktail evening, launching Daffodil Week. 120 visitors enjoyed an exciting night of wine, food and entertainment within the gallery atmosphere.

The studio was also a very busy place. Three stage 1 painting groups successfully completed the six week program and one stage 2 group.

2009 is promising to be a new growth period for the gallery and studio with an emphasis on weekend workshop programs and the introduction of external tutors for the studio. Details of the program will be released early in the New Year. Expressions of interest are invited through this newsletter -

Inspiration for Joannas new release of work is well underway. Visits to strategic landscape areas have developed a body of drawings, plans and sketches to evolve into unique new canvasses. The date for release will be finalized in 2009.

A highlight for Joannas year was being accepted as a finalist in the Annual James Wallace Art Awards with her work “Pathway of Light”, held in Auckland in October. She has also exhibited in a group exhibition at the Marlborough Art Society and participated in the Art and Craft Trail expo to promote the arts within the community.

Overall it has been a very busy year for both the gallery and Joanna and we are looking forward to further growth this year.
