Compelling, physical and diverse, Passages represents over three years work expanding on the artistic vision and the concepts which earned Marlborough-based artist, Joanna Dudson Scott, a place in the finals of the 2009 Wallace Art Awards. Joanna’s distinctive style turns another corner pushing the dimensions and physicality of her ideas in a new direction. Passages are an important part of this exhibition.
Passes and Pathways carved by nature are woven into the artist’s vision. Cleverly executed dimensions and textured surfaces deliver a sensory experience where a moment in the landscape is an exploration of ideas layered into the canvas.
This anticipated Solo exhibition opens for summer in Marlborough’s public art space, the Millennium Art Gallery, in Blenheim. December 7th 2013 – January 26th 2014.
The exhibition will feature a truly impressive collection of paintings and will be accompanied by complementary and evocative prose by Marlborough writer, Frank Metcalfe.
While visiting the public gallery in Blenheim, take the opportunity to look back at Joanna’s journey. Come to Riverlore Gallery where a retrospective of her works are exhibited from December 7th 2013 till January 26th 2014 in Gallery One.
Gallery two at Riverlore holds an exhibition of Tom Flaherty’s work. Tom will be in the studio doing a residency for 4 weeks and welcomes questions on how and why he paints the way he does.
